Online filing of service tax returns was made mandatory through a notification on 25.08.2011. However since the notification was issued just a month before the due date for filing of service tax returns, the CBEC has decided to extend the due date from 25.09.2011 to 26.12.2011.. This will reduce the burden of assesses by a great deal.
